Love Dream Action
I get Carter back and forget to post!

New Years was great. I got my hair cut on the 30th and had a nice fall in the middle of the city on my way to it. Luckily I didn't hurt myself, other than my ego. But the hair is now mucho shorto and I am loving it. As much as I wish I could have long hair, mine just doesn't grow well. It was looking mighty scraggly before my chop. I also picked up the gift for the party even though I wasn't entirely happy with it.

New Years Eve I was hoping the parents would get back with Carter earlier in the evening, but they didn't. I had a doctor's appointment that afternoon. Everything was great and I got the paperwork for my ultrasound. I still have to wait a few weeks, but it's exciting! Chris and I picked Carrie up and headed to Rob's for his party. It was a nice night, slightly subdued. We had fun and ended the night with a game of Friend's Scene It. It was very late, or early, by the time we got home...I think about 4am.

We eventually got up the next morning and headed over to my parents to pick Carter up. When he saw me, his face lit up and he came running to me. It was so sweet! He hugged me for a long time. But when we said it was actually time to go, he didn't want to leave. So, at least he had a lot of fun. Frank, Rob and Tammy all stopped by to give Carter his presents. Frank gave him two preschool GI Joes and a Transformer. Rob and Tammy gave him some Color Wonder and a racetrack. It is the Shake and Go cars and they are pretty cool. It's currently set up in our living room. Who knows where we will store it later.

Friday was a lazy day. Carter came home with a bit of a cold so we just kept him home. He has so many new toys, he had a blast. On Saturday, while Carter was napping, I cleaned his playroom. I boxed up two boxes of toys to sell at a yard sale in the spring and another big bin of things to save. We planned out how we would rearrange his room once we decide to move him back in there. Chris decided to get him a small TV for the room so we will be saving up this month for that. My parents got him the Smart Cycle for Christmas so instead of adding that to the already packed closet in the living room, we'll keep it in his bedroom. I am still very anti-entertainment in his room, but in this house, it's pretty much going to have to happen. I guess as long as we keep it to a minimal, we will be okay.

Yesterday, Tammy, Carter and I went out for brunch while the guys moved a bar from our house to Rob's. We then went back to Rob and Tammy's and watched the Raven's game. That was some fun times even though Tammy and I kept lamenting the end of our break.

Today was the return to normal. It was tough to get up. I kept waking up thinking I was going to oversleep. This started around 3am and by the time my alarm actually went off, I was wide awake. Really frustrating. Carter went back to school. Him and I both have been battling a cold so his nose is all chapped and sore. I mentioned that he had a cold to his teacher and another mother went off on me. She said, "He has a COLD?!?! I just can't get away from it! My father-in-law had one this weekend, now him?!?!" I looked point blank at her and said, "It's the middle of the winter, what do you expect?" I mean, come on!! If Carter would have had a fever or would have been throwing up, I would have kept him home, but it's just a runny nose! What do you expect, lady? I would bet that if her daughter had a runny nose, she would be bringing her in! What a lovely start to my day! I really felt like slapping her. I just had my child out of school for three weeks. I was not going to keep him away from his friends for yet another day for a runny nose. Phoey on her.

Now I'm back at work, sweltering in the office. I really don't know what they have done, but this winter has been horribly hot in here. We have the thermostats down to the 60's but for some reason, it's just unbearably hot. I'm not going to be able to wear any of my sweaters in here! And facilities have no idea why it's so hot this year. Other parts of the same building are very cold. Crazy.

Well, I guess I should get back to work. I'm sure this won't last long!
